vase
The deche vase is symbolic of the region of the ardeche in south west france. it is an ancient landscape with the river at its heart. steep cliffs loom above the water and in the rock there are the caves where ancient humans dwelt, sharing these spaces with bears. the mouths of these caves were hidden for thousands of years. now they have been found, the wonders of a forgotten past have been revealed. the cave chauvet with its cave paintings adorning the walls and the grottos of stalactites and stalagmites, huge caverns of alien wonder where time slows as the sculptures grow in complete darkness.
these caves signify a metamorphic evolution. shapes growing, twisting, transforming, slowly and silently, evolving like something once buried now pushing upward. a transformation from liquid to crystalline building a underground cathedral of minerals, salt and rock
